Brief

Produced the Smart Playroom for the opening weekend of Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5, and designed the interface at the centre of it.

What the studio did

The Smart Playroom turned Westfield Century City into a life-size pop-up: scenic build, environmental graphics, digital media and interactive play, extending the film's toys-versus-tech premise into somewhere you could walk into.

At its centre was a LilyPad interface on an LED wall, driven by a LiDAR touch curtain rather than a touchscreen. Designed the UI and the interaction model around that constraint: targets sized for a whole hand, legible across a busy mall floor.

The centrepiece was Smart Home Simon, a pattern game wired to real devices in the room, so firing a pad on the wall fired the thing it controlled. Produced the delivery underneath: schedule, resourcing, technical dependencies and the client review cycle.
